This photography is taken with care by Calgary photographers Christina and Nathan. We used to be called francesfoto, and then we met and fell in love, and now we just go by ‘christina (plus) nathan’.

Calgary photography: I started my venture in Calgary photography years ago specializing in family photography. I wanted to make real art with babies, kids, families and show all the love in images that would truly be timeless pieces of art. I looked at all the photography in the city at the time and found it either looked posed, contrived, it really all looked the same; or the prices were out of this world. I decided to make art, keep my prices reasonable and create unique images, as unique as the families who hired me.

As time went on and the business became more and more successful I decided to give it a shot to photograph a Calgary wedding, it was a good friend’s sister, my first wedding, and I fell in love. For more of my experiences as a wedding photographer see my blog Calgary wedding photographer.

Calgary Photographer: Many people ask me two questions, how did you become a photographer and why the name Francesfoto? I really feel being a photographer is my true purpose. I am self taught and have always had a knack with people. The gift of gab and a natural people reader, I am also obsessed with art in every form. Images, pattern, color, line, story, emotion, life and love…these drive my artistic expression. Photography was a good fit because I like moving fast and I am really good at climbing trees.

For the name, I let me friend name the company like naming a baby…she really wanted a baby and had not had the chance to make one at that time, so she named my baby Frances.

We changed the name to Christina (plus) Nathan, after Nathan and I met, fell in love and joined forces. We love love being Calgary wedding photographers as our specialty, and still offer Calgary family and commercial photography.

Calgary family photography: Today the city is blessed with a few really talented family photographers, but back when I started I couldn’t find a single one person that specialized in true photo-journalistic pictures. I wanted pictures of my little son, and everything I looked at just didn’t capture the true nature and personality of the children, relationships, and the experience. So I turned my photographic interested to doing just that.

Calgary wedding photography:
Wedding photography is a newer passion for me, not only because I am engaged to my favorite person ever, but I see this moment as a true passage into a new chapter. I love everything weddings, especially the challenge of making art for sometimes 12 hours straight. I never expect less than great artful images from the beginning to end of a wedding photography portfolio.

Weddings are the most joyful moments of our lives, when we commit to our soul mates and partners. I love that moment.

Calgary family photographer:

working with Calgary families is always a treat; I approach each session with a goal for the kids to have fun. I laugh at the memories I have sitting stiff for the portrait photographer, with candid photography the kids can play and we will do the rest. Calgary photography sessions with us start with a question, what are your favorite family moments? We can build in traditions, hobbies, or just looking into your little one’s big beautiful eyes. We capture the love and beauty of your family.
